LLB (Hons), BSC, MSc (Hons), all-rounder, renaissance woman
I’m proud to be part of this brilliant innovative company – using technology and legal expertise to make legal compliance easy and accessible for clients – the way it should be!
Born and bred in Welly, Jess studied at Victoria University for what seemed like forever. Seven years and three degrees later, she graduated in 2012 with a BSc, MSc (Hons) and LLB (Hons).
After gaining experience as an intern at DOC’s head office over summer, she kickstarted her legal career at Christchurch law firm Duncan Cotterill.
Working in environment law, she spent her first few years of practice appreciating the natural beauty of the South Island and learning about rural environmental issues, including intensive pig farming and effluent disposal.
She was also involved in planning law at a crucial time – when the entire city of Christchurch needed rebuilding.
In need of indulging her ‘artistic’ side, Jess left NZ to visit art galleries around New York and Europe before going back to school, but this time to work as an English language teacher in France. She then moved to London where she picked up her legal career again and worked for a large firm in dispute resolution.
Meeting and helping clients across a range of industries around New Zealand is a real highlight of my job.
On returning to the antipodes, Jess revisited environmental law but this time working at Kensington Swan before joining us here at ComplyWith.
A self-confessed Francophile, Jess is polishing up her French with lessons at Alliance Française; the dream being to live in France again… one day!
