I enjoy the tight-knit culture at ComplyWith, and it’s great to see how quickly things can move from a brainstorming session to a fully developed feature that our customers are using.
Troy’s grandparents moved to New Zealand from Samoa and Tonga in the 1960s in search of new opportunities for their family. He grew up in Porirua, playing rugby union and singing in an award-winning barbershop quartet.
Troy’s very legitimate claim to fame is being part of Pacific Connection – a chorus group that won the New Zealand barbershop competition in 2022 and placed 8th internationally (in Louisville, Kentucky) in 2023. But don’t ask Troy to sing because he absolutely will not do it.
As a boy, Troy dreamed of being a WWE wrestler. Fortunately for us, he pursued a slightly more conventional career path, working in the internet banking team at ANZ, and as Z Energy’s first platform and customer support specialist. This gave Troy a passion for technology and customer-support skills that are second to none (even if his body slam is a bit rusty).
At ComplyWith, Troy provides technical support to our internal teams and customers. He helps to identify product development opportunities and works closely with our developers to deliver them. On a typical day, Troy will start with coffee, check his emails, and then save the world. But there hasn’t been a typical day yet.
When Troy’s not working, he likes hanging out with his family and friends, trying new food spots, and dissecting movies with his wife. He also enjoys giving back to the community through groups like Cross-Polynate (a social change agency owned by indigenous educators, designers, and researchers) and Malaga Sā Strings (a dynamic Pasifika arts and performance group in Porirua).
In his spare time, Troy loves gaming (and snacking – preferably on Mrs Higgins’ chocolate chews).
