ComplyWith has always given your people clarity about their legal compliance obligations. Now, you can add a new level of understanding by linking your organisation’s policies, resources, and notes directly to those legal obligations.
Our new linking feature enables legal compliance obligations in your ComplyWith to be easily linked to your organisation's internal policies and resources, or notes. If you have the Controls module, you can create 2-way links between legal obligations and your controls.
“It creates connections that transform isolated compliance information into an interconnected ecosystem, giving your people unprecedented clarity.
The icing on the cake is that your people get easy clarity of what they are expected to know – no more ‘where’s Wally?’ trying to figure out what policies relate to what Legal obligations.”
Andrew Cox, ComplyWith’s Chief Technology & Product Officer
Having a systemised way of associating your organisation’s legal compliance elements, particularly controls that help ensure compliance with specific legal obligations, is an important step in developing your organisation’s compliance maturity.
Here’s an example of how easy it is when viewing a legal obligation to see and access your organisation’s notes, policies and resources (including training), and controls that apply to that legal obligation.
How does linking to Our notes work?
Linking your legal obligations to Our notes enables people viewing an obligation to read messages from your organisation that apply to that legal obligation. Examples of when this will be of value include:
- Telling your people who to go to for help at your organisation for issues relating to different areas of compliance. For example, who your Privacy Officer is and how to contact them, or who to contact in the Employment Relations Team for different types of employment-related queries.
- Reminding people about key responsibilities at your organisation that are associated with certain legal duties. For example, all health and safety incidents and near misses need to be immediately reported to the H&S Manager and lodged in the Incidents Register, with links to both.
- Reminding people allocated the ‘Health and Safety at Work Act - Overview obligation for team leaders or managers’ that yes this obligation does apply to them unless they no longer manage staff, and please do not ask to have the obligation reallocated away from them to the H&S Team.

On 22 May 2025, we hosted a very well-attended webinar about the new Linking feature. If you’d like to view the recording of this webinar, please log in to your ComplyWith, and you’ll find a link to it in the newsfeed on your arrival screen, or go to the Admin Help, and open the heading: Linking to your notes, policies, and resources.
Shortly, we’ll publish an article about linking between legal obligations and controls - in the meantime, if you have questions about this type of linking, please do drop us a line.
